Anti-Poverty Efforts
This class will focus on the 90-minute film, “Poverty Inc.” which provides a look into the poverty fighting efforts of the last decades, primarily outside the U.S. It includes a look at the metrics to measure progress, with observations on what works and what does not work. It does not question the good intentions of those involved, but does take a serious look at progress and trends. As time permits, other materials will also be consulted. This will be a discussion oriented class. Leo Shedden will serve as discussion leader, but your ideas and reactions to the materials presented will provide the primary points of discussion. This group meets on 11/14, 11/28, and 12/12.
