From Bach to Schubert - Connect the Dots
Despite the fact that Bach and Schubert were not contemporaries, they have some similarities. Both were supreme melodists, both wrote in a variety of genres, both instrumental and vocal, and both were frustrated by employment demands. During our sessions together, we’ll discuss issues in their lives and a variety of works for keyboard, voice, and orchestral instruments. Dr. Louis Nagel is Professor Emeritus of piano and piano literature after serving for forty-seven years on the faculty of the UM School of Music Theatre and Dance. He has concertized and lectured throughout the United States and internationally and worked collaboratively with his wife, the psychologist and musician Dr. Julie Jaffee Nagel. In “retirement” he continues to be active as a performer, lecturer and teacher.
