Literary Mystery Short Stories
This study group will be a weekly assembly of lovers of mysteries, where “mystery” will be a loosely-defined genre to include suspenseful and atmospheric stories where crime or the threat of crime is a central artifact of the story. We will select mysteries of strong literary merit: pulled mostly from The Best American Mystery Stories anthologies and from the The New Yorker, and will include classics as well contemporary masterpieces from award winning writers. Various special topics on mysteries will be discussed. Each session will feature one story, which will be distributed in advance. The study group will be instructor-led but with enough room for discussions. No class on May 28th because of Memorial Day. Class extended to July 2.
