Women and Aging through Literature and Reflective Writing
This study group uses essays, fiction, poems, and memoir excerpts written by women about aging as prompts for reflective writing. Following a discussion, members write during class and voluntarily share their writing with the group. Sample prompts might include: Write about a fear you have about growing older. Describe a strength or positive attribute that has emerged in you as you’ve grown older. This is not a creative writing class, but an opportunity to reflect more deeply about what aging means to us as women. Beth Spencer is a geriatric social worker, avid reader, and writer with decades of teaching experience.
