Death and Dying: A Conversation
Talking about death often provokes discomfort, anxiety and fear. This study group provides an opportunity to explore issues surrounding one’s own death, including the business of death, funerals and rituals, and end of life conversations with family and friends. You will examine these components of death, enabling you to increase your comfort level in conversations with family and friends, to become better advocates, and to understand how grief may be influencedby events that do or do not happen at the time of death. The group will provide many opportunities to share your thoughts and experiences. Susan Sefansky has been a social worker with University of Michigan Health System since 1985, (retiring in 2017). She has worked with many aspects of death, dying, grief and loss from pediatrics to geriatrics, and has developed a comfort level in discussing death and being around the deceased. NO CLASS ON NOVEMBER 23.
