Cooking Capitalism: Advertising Ephemera from the Janice Bluestein Longone Culinary Archive
From Sunkist Desserts & Salads (1915) to Florida Citrus Fare (1940s) to Taste the Tropical Difference (1992), recipe booklets and product promotion brochures offer a window into 20th century domestic life and its intersection with the growing industrialization of food production. Such publications also provide insight into changing approaches to diet and health, home making, and gender roles. Join us for a hands-on exploration of ten decades of advertising ephemera from the Janice Bluestein Longone Culinary Archive, held in University of Michigan Library’s Special Collections Research Center. Presented by Martha Conway and Juli McLoone.
