Community, Collaboration, Communication, and Change
Civic engagement refers to the ways in which citizens participate in the life of a community in order to improve conditions for others or to help shape the community’s future. In the past few years, a new movement has emerged to promote greater civic engagement by older adults. This study group will study how civic engagement is being practiced by older adults and will invite participants to share possible opportunities for civic engagement in their own communities. Tom Murray has a Ph.D. in Communications from UM, is Emeritus Professor of Communication at EMU, and has led OLLI study groups.
