Innovations in Aging Symposium
On Thursday, November 7th Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County, in partnership with the University of Michigan School of Social Work and The University of Michigan Geriatrics Center, will be hosting Innovations in Aging. The goal of this special symposium is to bring together experts in the field of aging to discuss issues relevant to serving older adults. Innovations in Aging aims to offer diverse presentations from gerontology specialists, physicians, researchers, social workers, lawyers, insurance specialists, finance consultants, and more. Topics of interest may include aging in place, health and well-being, the role of caregivers, breaking down barriers of aging, isolation, seniors marginalized by society, legal safeguards for older adults, art and older adults, keeping up with technology, senior care, mobility, and quality of life. The growing aging population will soon dramatically change the landscape of many sectors and JFS is excited to be a leader in this conversation in Washtenaw County with our WISE Older Adult Services. The Symposium will be held at the Horace Rackham School of Graduate Studies. Cost is a special rate of $20 for OLLI members (regularly $100). Breakfast, lunch, and a small reception after the event are included. Doors will open at 8:30am. Contact Jake Singer at jsinger@jfsannarbor.org with questions. Look for Barbara Hooberman, OLLI host, wearing an OLLI O button and an ochre colored jacket. Register for the event at www.jfsannarbor.org.
