Orson Welles' War of the Worlds
The Screen Arts Mavericks & Makers collection at the University of Michigan Library’s Special Collections Research Center consists of the personal and professional papers of a number of noted film directors including Robert Altman, Jonathan Demme, and John Sayles. In this session we will explore a variety of material pertaining to the life and career of Orson Welles -- letters, diaries, photographs, drawings, and production documents, including the hundreds of letters sent to him following his Mercury Theater on the Air’s infamous broadcast of War of the Worlds on October 30, 1938.
