How Criminal Justice Authorities Foster Mass Incarceration and How They Can End It
**NOTE** On Wednesday, March 4, special guest, Judge Darlene O’Brien of the Washtenaw County Circuit Courtwill participate in the class from 11-12. Judge O’Brien has been a judge since 2006 and was recently reelected to the Circuit Court which handles all felony criminal cases. She has written articles on Peacekeeping Circles and is an advocate for just and human resolution of human disputes. During these three weeks we will examine the role of criminal justice authorities, such as prosecutors, judges and the courts, parole board, and legislators in setting up policies and practices that play on the fears of the public and promote an overburdened criminal justice system.
