Global Waters - Day Pass 1/13 - From Coast to Coast... to Coast: Exploring Your National Marine Sanctuaries
The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries serves as the trustee for a network of underwater parks encompassing more than 600,000 square miles of marine and Great Lakes waters from Washington state to the Florida Keys, and from Lake Huron to American Samoa. Join Ellen Brody and Stephanie Gandulla for a virtual tour of these underwater treasures and learn about the work to protect and preserve sanctuaries for this and future generations. As the Great Lakes Regional Coordinator for NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, Ellen Brody works with Great Lakes communities on new sanctuary designations and nominations, coordinates programs for the national marine sanctuaries, and builds partnerships with other government agencies and organizations. Ellen is currently leading the designation for the proposed Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. Ellen spent her first nine years with NOAA in Washington, D.C. in the national coastal zone management office, while focusing on the Great Lakes. Ellen works in Ann Arbor, MI at the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab. She has a B.S. and M.S. in environmental policy from the University of Michigan.
