Music In Detroit and Michigan: The Legend Continues: FULL SERIES
The Motor City continues to rock the music scene in America and across the world. From its significant contributions to Jazz, to the creation of its namesake Motown, Detroit retains its claim to fame in popular music. It persists in playing a defining role in many of the other musical genres related to the Folk & Roots family tree. Even in the sphere of ethnic music, it taps its culturally diverse neighborhoods to create global vibrations. Now, classic Arabic music also flows from Dearborn, Michigan. Many local organizations dedicated to classical Western music, including the University of Michigan's prestigious School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, attract and nurture talent through the excellence of their programs. Their alumni make waves in numbers on the renowned stages of Broadway. So, the Legend continues. The Motor City continues to rev. ... And, it's all just a short ride away. Please join us as we explore these uplifting and enduring musical genres.
