Play MattersDuring the last 20 years, the ability to play has been added as a harbinger of good mental health along with the ability to work and love. This course will focus on some of the ingredients of play. What is meaningful play? How does playfulness grow, change, or decline over the decades? How does play carry over from childhood to our later decades? What happens when play is impeded? Hopefully our discussions will help us appreciate the potential player within us.Morton Chethik is an Emeritus Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry at UM, and has written about the role of play in our development.
