Frederick Novy was a bacteriology researcher at the University of Michigan from 1889 to 1933. His work investigating fundamental aspects of microbial behavior was distinctly different for his time. His work was foundational in helping to establish the contours of biomedical institutions as we know them today. The presentation is based on a book on this subject recently published by the author.
